Purpose: A joint retreat prior to the Banff Pathology Course for all University of Alberta and University of Calgary Anatomical and General Pathology Residents, with guest speakers discussing various topics relating to both medical expert and other intrinsic CanMEDS roles (leader, professional, communicator, etc.). The intrinsic CanMEDS roles, particularly related to career planning and physician finances during practice are not well covered in the regular curriculum, and a joint retreat with all residents will be an ideal venue to address these topics and allow for team building and networking opportunities.
